Pinwheels for Change
Moms Demand Action is an on-the-ground organization working to advocate and educate to reduce gun violence. It is affiliated with Everytown for Gun Safety, and local chapters depend on community donations for funding. In New York state alone, Moms Demand has driven the passage of more than 30 good gun laws over the past 5 years. Moms demand also does street-level violence prevention work, and delivers critical education in schools on gun sense and safety. Several in our local community have planned an event in support of Moms Demand Action. First, during the week of May 20th, come see "Pinwheels for Change," an art installation on the Village Green in Bedford. Why pinwheels? Because pinwheels convert energy into movement and that is what we want to do: harness community energy and convert it into a movement towards communities safer from gun violence. In addition, please join us if you can on May 24th from 6-8 for a casual, ticketed cocktail party at Bedford Historical Hall. This non-partisan gathering provides an opportunity both to support Moms Demand Action with our donations, and to hear Barry Graubart, the Deputy Chapter Leader of the New York Chapter, speak about their important work at the forefront of the gun sense movement.
