Wild Nearby

Heather Flournoy of Wild Nearby talks wild food, folk medicine, art and poisons! Join her for a wild “speakeasy” session and learn about the native and invasive plants and fungi Heather forages in our area. She’ll share photos, stories, and take us on a foraging walk to see the wild magic right under our feet.

About Wild Nearby

Heather Flournoy, chief forager of Wild Nearby, has been exploring flora and foraging for over 25 years. In 2019 she launched Wild Nearby to share her knowledge and love of wild food and medicine.

Many locals know Heather as the founder of the “Katonah Green” environmental Meetup group, co-founder of Really Social Strategies, or chief technical wizard of Cyber Marm. Throughout her life she has also studied herbalism, healing,  nutrition, spirituality, and intuitive horsemanship which inform her approach to work with the wild plants. Her work now includes healing, meditation and foraging with horses. Her story of how foraging and wildcrafting helped her own healing after a serious accident is inspiring.

Heather founded Wild Nearby to help people connect with the natural world. She believes that the more we learn about the symbiotic processes of the natural world, the more we appreciate our role as members of an ecosystem. This connects people of all backgrounds to a sense of place no matter where they are in the world.
